My family: me, Gunnar James and Brandon....not very interesting..... ​my hobbies/activites: um music,computers,and being outside. I have two dogs an American Bulldog and a German Sheperd. My favorite colors are: blue neon yellow neon pink and black. Don't really have a favorite food.... an animal that I idenify with would be a star fish.......there quite and don't do much of anything....

Animal Facts:


1. This region has sea anemones, fungi, bacteria, crustaceans, whales, fish, mollusks and various other types of animals.
2. Many of these animals are specially adapted to the various conditions that exist in this environment. For example, marine mammals generally have blubber in order to withstand the extremely cold temperatures of the water,
3. however, the sea otter deals with this condition by having dense fur instead, with about a million hairs in each square inch.
4. The marine biome is also home to some of the largest creatures on earth, like the blue whale, which can be more than 100 feet in length.


Plant Facts
:

1. One of the main reasons the marine biome is very important is due to the algae that exist in it. Algae in the oceans generate the major portion of the oxygen in the earth’s atmosphere.
2. Algae also absorb huge amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Due to this, it may play a major role in reducing the harmful effects of climate change.
3. Phytoplankton is another important plant in the marine biome. These are largely unicellular algae that most marine creatures feed on, from large whales to the tiniest of fish. According to scientists, phytoplankton is responsible for about half of the oxygen in the earth’s atmosphere.
4. Kelp is another kind of marine plant that is very important. It provides food and shelter to many kinds of creatures that inhabit the marine biome.


Climate:

1. The climate of the ocean does not vary much throughout the seasonal changes. It does not change because water does not heat up or cool down quickly. The ocean carries warm and cool currents that heat or cool the land it goes by.
2. For example, Hawaii is warm due to the warm currents that are being swept onto the land which it surrounds. The circulation patterns in the open ocean are horizontal ocean currents that affect the upper surface waters, but the vertical circulation of open ocean water masses may be more important for marine life.
3. There are two types of vertical circulation of ocean water masses: upwelling and thermohaline. In upwelling, deep ocean water rich in dissolved nutrients moves up the continental slope into coastal surface waters, aided by offshore wind patterns. The nutrient-rich waters encourage the growth of plankton, which serves as the base for the food chain throughout the oceans.
4. In thermohaline circlulation, differences in the termperature, density, and salinity of ocean water masses cause the nutrient-rich deep ocean water to rise and mix with suface waters. Thermohaline circulation is restricted to polar regions of the northern and southern hemispheres
